Finding the Perfect Air Force Flag

Creating a striking outdoor display is easy with Carrot-Top's selection of high-quality outdoor U.S. Air Force flags. Choose from two fabrics, nylon and polyester, and a wide range of flag sizes. Nylon flags are ideal for areas of light winds and light to moderate climates. Heavy-duty polyester flags are perfect for areas where strong winds and harsh weather is common. These outdoor flags are perfect for honoring the brave men and women who belong to the U.S. Air Force. Flags can be mounted both at home as well as near office or government buildings. For a stunning display of patriotism and gratitude, pair this flag with an outdoor American flag.

Indoor United States Air Force flags are perfect for government hallways, offices, and even at home! Indoor U.S. Air Force flags can also be used during town parades and events, although they should not be left outdoors. These designs are digitally printed on durable nylon fabric, ideal for long-term indoor display. Available in two sizes, 3' x 5' and 4' x 6', they can be easily mounted to an indoor flagpole. Keep in mind, the size of the flag will dictate the size of the flagpole. Our indoor Air Force flag comes in two designs – one traditional, and one that includes a beautiful gold fringe around the edge of the flag. Whichever design you decide on, you'll be creating a beautiful indoor display of admiration and gratitude.

We carry a variety of Air Force flags, including the Air Force Retired Flag, Thunderbirds Flag, and Officer Flags. Ideal for a collector's item or a retired airman, these flags create a stunning display of pride. For a complete set, shop our 3' x 5' Armed Forces Flag Set, perfect for displaying your patriotism and gratitude to the brave men and women who serve our country every day.

The Air force flag’s crest and shield make up the Air force coat of arms and feature a bald eagle, wreath, and cloud. The bald eagle is often seen as a national symbol and in this instance, it also represents America’s air power. The white cloud behind the eagle represents the start of a new sky and the eagle is perched on a white and blue wreath.

Beneath the eagle and cloud formation, on the Air force flag, is a shield divided horizontally by a nebuly line to represent clouds. The thunder bolts inside the shield are also representative of the striking power the U.S Air Force possesses. The whole crest and shield are surrounded by thirteen white five-pointed stars representing the 13 original colonies. The official Air Force flag was introduced to the public on March 31, 1951, in a parade in Washington D.C. The first published description of the Air force flag was signed in to the law in October 1951, and the design has not changed since that date. The Air Force flag’s design is credited to Miss Dorothy G. Gatchell and was formally approved by General Hoyt S. Vandenburg.

All information about the Air Force flag was provided by the Air Force historical research agency.
