Congratulations to our Spring 2024 Beacon® Scholarship Winner!

Since 2018, Carrot-Top Industries has awarded the Beacon® Scholarship to college-bound high school seniors and adult learners who showcase inspirational patriotism within their community. This year, we received a record number of applicants, all of whom displayed academic excellence and a drive to succeed. Please join us in recognizing this year's winner of the Spring 2024 Beacon® Scholarship. 

Spring Beacon® Scholarship Winner Kenyonna Deese 

Kenyonna Deese resides in Maxton, North Carolina, and attends the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, seeking a Bachelor of Social Work. Kenyonna has extensive volunteer experience, including working with organizations like the JROTC, Red Cross, the Pembroke Fire Department, and her local church. Currently, Kenyonna works as an Academic Peer Leader, where she helps students struggling with their classes get back on track academically. 

Kenyonna stood out to us for her passion for her community and desire to help those in need. Her willingness to take on new service roles, whether making Christmas cards for the elderly or caring for the homeless with her church, exemplifies true American values and patriotism. Additionally, her love for her Native American ancestry has encouraged Kenyonna to step out in support of unification and diversity. She explains, stating, "I am assisting in preserving a rich history foundation that includes my native American roots, and I have the opportunity to share my history with many different [people] by serving them in their schooling. This is also a step toward creating a unified community by involving different diverse groups in our community." 

Kenyonna embodies the ideals, passion, and patriotism of a Beacon® Scholarship recipient. When speaking of the future, she proudly notes, "I have dedicated a large part of my life to improving the community I live in and the people who live around me. The various roles that I have fulfilled have given me the opportunity to be patriotic. I plan to continue my patriotism once I graduate with my bachelor's degree in social work by advocating for my community."
