What Are the Benefits of an Aluminum Sectional Flagpole?

Our 20’ fine-line aluminum sectional flagpole is a favorite among our residential flagpoles due to its low cost and durable construction. While not as sturdy as our aluminum commercial flagpoles, our fine-line poles proudly fly American flags in areas with low winds. Our 20’ flagpole will enhance the yard of your home or small commercial building at a much lower cost than a commercial-grade flagpole.

Components include:

Note that while the standard fine-line flagpole delivers via motor freight, the sectional flagpole will ship via ground, lowering shipping costs significantly.

FAQ About Sectional Flagpoles

Have additional questions about our sectional flagpole not answered here? Don’t hesitate to contact our Flag Pros via our contact us form. They can answer your questions or assist with checkout.

1. What flagpole finish should I buy?

Our fine-line sectional flagpoles come in four finishes: satin, clear anodized, bronze anodized, and black anodized. Satin finishes are shiny and match the exterior of most buildings. However, anodized finishes can offer additional protection against the elements. Anodized finishes are particularly advantageous for flagpoles in coastal areas or industrial regions, where harsh conditions like salt water, acid rain, and contaminants are prevalent. These finishes help safeguard the flagpole from pitting and corrosion, prolonging its lifespan and preserving its appearance.

2. What size building do you recommend for this flagpole?

We recommend a 20’ flagpole for one to two-story buildings.

3. What size flag can I fly on a 20’ flagpole?

Generally, your flag’s length should be between 1/4 and 1/3 of your flagpole’s height. That means that a 3’x5’ is the best flag for a 20’ flagpole. Since 3’x5’ is one of the most common flag sizes, you can order an American flag, state flag, or military flag from Carrot-Top to fly on the top of your flagpole.

4. Can I fly multiple flags on a 20’ sectional flagpole?

If you plan to fly an American flag paired with a state flag or a POW/MIA flag, we recommend flying a 3’x5’ American flag for the larger flag and a 2’x3’ for the smaller one. Flying a state or military flag on top of an American flag violates the flag code.

5. Can you fly your U.S. flag at night?

Yes, as long as you have proper lighting, you can fly your flag at night. Choose from any number of high-quality flagpole lights when you shop at Carrot-Top. Our disc solar flagpole light will illuminate your flagpole with minimal maintenance.

6. What’s the difference between a sectional and a telescoping flagpole?

Customers love Carrot-Top’s telescopic flagpole kits because they are easy to install and remove. However, what is best for you may depend on your specific needs. The most significant difference between a sectional flagpole and a telescopic one is that telescopic poles can be adjusted to any height between 9’ and 20’. Another major difference between the two flagpoles is that telescopic poles do not use halyard. To hang your flag, you collapse your pole to its lowest height and then attach the flag to the swivels.

Many customers love the convenience and ease of use of our telescopic flagpoles. However, they are not as sturdy as our sectional flagpole kits, which can withstand unflagged wind speeds up to 117 mph. A telescopic pole must be uninstalled and stored during inclement weather as it can only withstand winds up to 75 mph when unflagged.

Need a Larger or Heavier-Duty Flagpole?

Our sectional fine-line flagpole comes in 25’ if you are looking for a larger flagpole. 25’ sectional flagpoles are better for larger residents, up to three stories. Check out our residential flagpoles category page for the full list of options.

If you need a flagpole meant for high winds, we recommend our 20’ Majestic™ Commercial-Grade Aluminum Flagpole. These in-ground flagpoles can withstand wind speeds up to 147 mph or up to 287 mph if you buy the heavy-duty version. We recommend a heavy-duty architectural-grade flagpole or a fiberglass flagpole if you live in an area especially prone to harsh weather.
