Sao Tome And Principe
The São Tomé and Príncipe flag uses Pan-African colors and is very similar to flag of the Liberation Movement prior to independence. We supply these national flags in three varieties for indoor, outdoor and miniature flag displays. For more about each product click on an image below or scroll down to read more.
The São Tomé and Príncipe flag features three horizontal stripes and a red isosceles triangle extending towards the middle from the hoist (left) end of the flag. The center stripe features two five-pointed black stars. The top and bottom stripes are green and the middle stripe is yellow. The yellow stripe is thicker than both the green stripes. Yellow, green, black and red are closely associated with the Pan-African movement. The black stars on the flag represent the two islands that make up the nation. The red triangle is a constant reminder of the obstacles that São Tomé and Príncipe endured before achieving independence. The new flag was adopted and independence was formalized in 1975 on the 12th of July.
The flag of São Tomé and Príncipe is available for outdoor use in all-weather situations, for indoor use with a gold fringe and in a miniature 4”x6” size.
