The Cowpens flag also called the 3rd Maryland flag, features a circle of 12 stars with 1 in the center. And the Grand Union Flag, considered the first national flag of the United States, doesn't include any stars at all! Pair one of these quality historical American flags with an American flag from our collection to create a beautiful display that everyone will admire.
Our collection of historical flags includes options from throughout history. Check out the treasured Bonnie Blue flag, with its white five-point star on a blue background or the striking Union Cavalry Guidon, made with durable nylon.
The Betsy Ross Flag
Iconic and historic, the Betsy Ross flag is a favorite of many. Designed during the American Revolution, the Betsy Ross flag is a true historical American flag. This flag features 13 stars to represent the original 13 colonies. The design, according to folklore, was popularly attributed to Betsy Ross. It features an alternating red and white striped field with five-pointed stars in a blue canton and an arrangement of the stars in a circle. At Carrot-Top, we offer several variations of the Betsy Ross flag—from antiqued cotton to nylon—we even offer a Betsy Ross garden flag!
In addition to the Betsy Ross flag, we also offer historical American flags with every variation of stars, each of which honors the addition of a new state to the union.
The Gadsden Flag
One of our most popular historical flags is the Gadsden Flag, with its coiled snake on a yellow background and the words "Don't Tread on Me", historically used as a call for freedom and independence. Featuring a canvas header and brass grommets, this flag is available in sizes ranging from 2' x 3' to 5' x 8', and also in mini form. A related flag is the Culpeper Flag, featuring the coiled snake and motto on a white background as well as "Liberty or Death" and the name of the regiment. This historical American flag was used by the Culpeper Minutemen of Virginia. The First Navy Jack flag, with its red and white stripes, uncoiled rattlesnake and "Don't Tread on Me" motto is inspired these flags and is the current U.S. jack authorized by the United States Navy.
