Why Buy a 3’ x 5’ Poly-Knit Gonzales Battle Flag?
In 1835, Gonzales, Texas (also known as The DeWitt Colony) asked for a small cannon for protection. When disputes arose between Anglo settlers and Mexican authorities, a unit of about 100 Mexican soldiers was dispatched from San Antonio to seize the cannon. The Texians, numbering less than 20, refused to give it up and the Battle of Gonzales was on. Sarah DeWitt and her daughter sewed a flag with an image of the cannon, a Lone Star and the words “Come and Take It”; since then, the Come and Take It flag has been considered one of the most important historical Texas flags.
Carrot-Top’s Come and Take It flag is a lightweight knit material called Endura-Poly and is intended for short-term outdoor use. Endura-Poly is noted for its superb color retention, and many flag buffs prefer it over nylon for that reason. The 3’ x 5’ Poly-Knit Gonzales Battle Flag is digitally printed using a single-reverse process; single-reverse printing will display correctly on one side and reverse on the other.
With four rows of stitching at the fly end, two rows at top and bottom and a header finished with brass grommets, this Come and Take It flag is suitable for short-term outdoor use in parades or on a flagpole. 3’ x 5’ flags are especially well suited for flying under a 4’ x 6’ United States or state flag on a taller flagpole.
