The 1st Cavalry patch or shoulder sleeve insignia is also known as the First Team patch. This patch represents the brave men and women of one of the most decorated combat divisions of the U.S Armed forces. This patch is a great way to proudly honor those who have served in the 1st Cavalry Division.
The patch can be attached to any fabric or material by ironing or sewing. For more information about the 1st cavalry patch see the description tab below.
The 1st Cavalry patch features a triangle pointing downwards with rounded edges. Inside the triangle on a yellow background is a black diagonal line extending from the top left down to the bottom right. In the top right hand corner is a horse’s head in silhouette. The yellow background is the traditional color of the cavalry and the horses head signifies the division’s original cavalry structure. The black refers to iron and the transition the division made to using heavy artillery tanks and armor. The black diagonal line on the 1st cavalry patch signifies a sword baldric, a symbol for military honor. The 1st cavalry path, as it stands, was approved in 1934 to be worn by all soldiers in the division. Today the yellow color of the patch is changed to the base color of the uniform to make the symbol less apparent when in combat.
