The Naval Aviator wings pin was first designed in 1917 by John H. Towers, United States Navy Admiral and a pioneer in Naval Aviation. It was in 1918 that the Naval Aviator Wings pin was given out to Senior Naval Aviators. The pins design features a fouled anchor behind a shield with stripes between two outstretched wings. The Naval Aviator wings are given to eligible Navy personnel and ceremonies known as Winging Ceremonies. The gold sleek design of the Naval Aviator wings allows for the pins to be worn to any professional event or military celebration.
