California State Flags
The California state flag proudly illustrates the state’s independence and strength. The Bear Flag, first raised in 1846 by a group of American settlers in revolt against Mexican rule, was designed by William Todd, nephew of Mary Todd Lincoln. The California flag consists of a white filed and red stripe at the bottom. The red 5-point star in the top left corner imitates the lone star of Texas and denotes courage. The grizzly bear on the grass patch in the center of the flag epitomizes strength and the many bears found in the state. The words ‘California Republic’ were added to the flag in 1911 to salute to feisty Americans pioneers who settled in the territory.
Our California State Flags are available in several varieties including two different outdoor fabrics. The outdoor nylon is the most versatile state flag. Constructed with our exclusive Beacon Nylon, these flags are tough and durable, dry quickly and fly in the slightest breeze. The outdoor polyester California flag, made with our exclusive Patriarch Polyester, is the best type of flag for high wind conditions. Outdoor flags feature a canvass header, two brass grommets and reinforced three-stitch fly ends.
Indoor California State flags also feature our exclusive Beacon Nylon and are finished with a lined pole along the left side. Distinguished, traditional gold fringe accents the remaining sides. Indoor flags may be matched with your choice of an assortment of flagpoles. Our California Flag Sets are perfect for use indoors or at parades. Mini 4”x6” and miniature 8”x12” California State Flags, made with a polyester and rayon material, are also available. Miniature flags are the perfect giveaway or keepsake. American flag and California state flag lapel pins are also inexpensive tokens and gifts to honor one’s heritage.
