The national flag of Norway has a red field with a blue Nordic or Scandinavian cross placed in the foreground. The cross’ vertical line is placed closer to the hoist end of the flag while the horizontal line is placed directly in the center of the flag. The cross represents the rich culture and history of Scandinavian countries and their ties to Christianity. The cross is colored blue and is separated from the red background by white stripes that run around the cross. The current design of the Norway flag is credited to Frederik Meltzer, a Member of Parliament in the mid 1800’s. The red and white colors were said to be adopted from the Danish flag while the blue on the flag is said to be taken from the Swedish flag, the use of these colors show the relationship between these Scandinavian countries and they also represent liberty and freedom. The flag design was officially adopted in 1821.
Our Norway flags are available in three types. The outdoor flag is made of durable high-quality nylon material and is ideal for all-weather displays. They can be flown on any of our commercial and residential flagpoles. The indoor flags can be flown on any of our parade and indoor flagpoles. The flags come fitted with a gold fringe and a pole sleeve. These flags are also made of nylon for long term use. The miniature flags measure 4”x6” and can be used with our mini flag stands.
