The Lebanon flag symbolically pictures the hope for the nation’s prosperity and the as well as the hope for peace. The Flag consists of a white horizontal between two bands of red. The Cedar in the center of the banner is inspired by the mountains of Lebanon cedars. The Cedar has traditionally been a symbol of holiness, eternity and peace.  The cedar of Lebanon has many biblical references. The white color of the flag symbolizes purity and peace.  The two red stripes denote the blood shed to preserve the country against numerous invaders.  The current version of the Lebanese national flag was adopted on December 7, 1943.
